Traveling has always been a passion of mine, even at the ripe age of 6 weeks when my family dragged me onto my first place and I screamed the whole trip. I’ve been incredibly lucky; my dad did a lot of overseas work and my mum was from South Africa, so we spent a lot of time as a family traveling around the world together. My mum loves to tell the story of the time we were taking one of our yearly trips to South Africa when I was about 2 or 3, and I spent the whole trip asking to go ‘outside’. I think she was very close to opening one of the emergency exits and tossing me out. Other than the plane flights – which I grew to love – I used to love to explore new places, meet new people and experience new cultures. There was always something so satisfying about landing in a new place and admiring the new sceneries, trees and buildings.
As I have gotten older, the travel bug has never really left my system. I always have this intense urge inside of me to buy a one way ticket to the middle of nowhere and see where the world takes me. Maybe it’s running away from my responsibilities, maybe it’s FOMO from watching all those Instagram stories of yet another European summer where everyone seems to have the EXACT same photos (I’m not bitter or anything…), but whatever it is, I plan on doing a lot more of it in the future. So with that being said, I thought I would dedicate this part of my blog to adventures that I go on, whether it’s just adventuring around my city or visiting Machu Picchu (which will happen one day if I stop spending my hard earned cash on Grill’d burgers).
I can’t wait to experience and share these adventures with the world and see where my spontaneous (my parents call it impulsive – and not in a good way) nature takes me.
